Ishqiya on a standstill
The women from the focus group did not take well to the abusive language and sexual content in the movie. The film about two dacoits falling in love with a sensual widow had the women from the focus groups cringing in their seat. Producer Vishal Bharadwaj has not only produced but also penned the dialogues of the movie but has also been a guiding force for Chaubey throughout the shooting to the film.
A source present at the screening said, “The women were not happy at all, they felt the content in the movie was too crass and crude. Along with the sexual overtones even the violence was a little too much too handle for them. Abhishek does not want any backlash once the movie releases and is taking the movie back on the editing table. Even the producers of the film Shemaroo asked an immediate re-edit of the movie.”
When we contacted Abhishek he refused to comment on the issue considering special screening are always kept on a hush hush level. The makers of the film are not planning on making any new trailers as of now and will asses the entire situation at the editing table. Chaubey isn’t keen on getting an A certificate for the movie and only tine will tell how much Ishqiya will have to suffer in the bargain.
