Jenny The Sweet And Innocent Girl
Wooed by Ranbir aka Prem in the movie, the film is about a happy-go-lucky boy in love with a beautiful, innocent girl for whom he’s ready to do anything and everything. Katrina defines her role in the film, “Jenny is a simple, innocent girl who has lived with foster parents all her life and all that she has ever longed for is to be loved.
She meets Ranbir and her life takes a complete u-turn with mad, crazy events one after the other. Ranbir, in the movie, is very strange, and the love story is stranger. Both of them are so wacky and unusual that the title of the movie is apt to define the film in itself.” Sources say her character in the film has a certain disorder called short-term memory loss and Ranbir makes her realise his love for her every single day, like that in Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates.
Katrina speaks of her experience during the shooting of the film saying, “I remember when I came into shoot the film right after New York. The very first shot of mine was expected to be very cheerful, express with my eyes and I was still stuck with my solemn expressions from New York. Rajji was like – ‘No, this is all wrong!’, and that’s when I realised that this film would be a complete rollercoaster ride and, truly, this is nothing like the comedies I have done before. It gave me a chance to do something new. I feel so honoured to have worked with someone such as Rajkumar Santoshi, who is a complete genius at his craft. He was a kid on the sets, and it was a joy to work with him indeed. His take on the character and the story is so unusual and told in such a different way. Katrina’s entire look in the film is very girly and simple. “Considering my role in the movie isn’t glamorous at all like my earlier characters, my styling had to reflect the simplicity of Jenny in order to look and sound believable to the audience,” Katrina says.
It has been felt that she is playing a dumb babe lost-in-the-woods character in the film, to which Katrina doesn’t take kindly, as the label of her playing dumb in the movie has been wrongly interpreted. She offers, “Not just my character, but the film in itself is so identifiable. Both me and Ranbir in the film play simple and ordinary characters; there’s nothing special about them, but it’s their love that makes it extraordinary. It will surely have audiences entertained till the very end, as it did with both Ranbir and me.” On her co-star, Katrina adds, “It was a blast working with Ranbir, I loved pulling his leg but, jokes apart, he’s a fine actor and he’s done a wonderful job in the film.”
