John Abraham’s dream project Hook Ya Crook

Hook Ya Crook was announced way back in 2006, also starring Genelia D’souza, Kay Kay Menon and Shreyas Talpade was a story set in Jail wth a cricket playing an important factor in the movie. Many had even said that the film would be a copy of the Adam Sandler starrer The Longest Yard but football being an important element in the narrative. Nonetheless everyone was excited with John’s version of the film.
So when the news of the movie releasing on DTH made the headlines, many were left wondering what went wrong with the movie. Director David Dhawan however rubbished the rumours saying, “That’s rubbish, the film is on hold because several scenes are still left to be shot with some top Indian cricketrs. We wanted Mahendra Singh Dhoni to be a part of the film but he has been busy with his commitments. Also Lakshimnipathy Balaji bowled a fast ball to John which injured his leg and that was another reason to put the shooting on a standstill till John’s leg healed completely.”
However a source present on the sets reveals, “The film is close to 70% complete and apart from the cricketers being unable to shoot and John’s injury several financial issues to marred the release of the film. Also the movie was to release close to the World Cup and now they’d have to wait for a proper time to let the film have an opening. The DTH factor did cross their minds but the discussion is still in the nascent stage. News about the film will surface next year definitely because they know the more the film is delayed, the less it will suit the audiences tastes.”
