SRK’s war with Sunny has come to an end after sixteen long years

Sunny who played the hero in Darr felt overshadowed by SRK’s negative character in the same film. When the film released, all the accolades were heaped on SRK and his ‘Kkkiran’ act. Sunny Deol felt sidelined and had a fall-out with Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films. He has not starred in a Yash Raj film since Darr and hardly crossed paths with SRK who rose to superstardom after Darr.

A source gives us the lowdown on the SRK-Sunny showdown at the time of Darr. “The role was offered to Aamir Khan who turned down the role because he wanted to know how many confrontation scenes were there between him and Sunny. He wanted more footage than Sunny. This was at the time when Sunny’s career was at its peak. Aamir didn’t want to be overshadowed by Deol Jr. When SRK stepped into the role, he demanded that his role be increased at the cost of snipping through Sunny’s action sequences where he was initially beating SRK to a pulp. Sunny felt shortchanged by the Chopras who at the request of a newcomer like SRK edited Sunny’s role to a mere ornamental piece in the film required only to pamper and console a frightened Juhi Chawla.”

After sixteen years of maintaining safe distance from each other, the actors patched up at Subhash Ghai’s party over the weekend. The showman initiated the process. SRK was already at the party hanging out with buddy Karan and others. Sunny walked in later with director Neeraj Pathak. Subhash Ghai greeted him and took him straight to SRK’s table. The two of them met and decided to let bygones be bygones. Later on, they were spotted hanging out with lyricist Prasoon Joshi. There was no tension in the air at all.

SRK’s war with Sunny has come to an end after sixteen long years. We wonder after how long the SRK-Salman war will end.
