Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Kurbaan has got an ‘A’ certificate by the Censor Board. This is because of the violent and sizzling lovemaking scenes in the film.

The violence and the setting of the film, which is terrorism, led to the Censor Board taking this decision. They felt it would be suitable only for an adult audience. Rensil D’Silva, the director of the film, tried talking to the Censor Board authorities and convince them into giving it a ‘U’ or ‘U/A’ certificate but they wouldn’t budge.

Regional Officer of the Censor Board, Vinayak Azad, confirmed the news and said, “After we saw Kurbaan, we felt that it was meant for adult viewing only.”

John Abraham’s 1-800-LOVE is trouble due to ongoing tiff between director Abbas Tyrewala and producer Madhu Matena who are bickering over the name of the film.

According to insiders, Madhu Mantena is dissatisfied with the title and is adamant on changing it. He has had several arguments with the director and wants to change the title because he feels that the Indian audience will not be able to understand and connect to 1-800-LOVE.

They have had their fair share of heated arguments in the past over locations too. Recently, at the film’s wrap-up party, Madhu walked out after another one of their tiffs over the title.

When enquired Madhu on the whole issue, the producer shared his grievances, “We rarely use toll free numbers in India. It is very important that the audience also connects to the film’s name for commercial success.”

But isn’t it too late to realise this as the title 1-800-LOVE is already registered in people’s minds, we ask him. “We have ample amount of time to change and promote it, even though 1-800-LOVE has gained popularity. I love this film and Abbas too much to let this mistake happen.”

However, Abbas had a different version to offer regarding the film’s current title as, “For the longest time, I wanted 1-800- LOVE as my title. But Madhu wants a different one now.

As Madhu says, it does happen that people refer to it as ‘One thousand eight hundred love’, which is not what the film is about. But I thought people will understand it. Madhu and I had a conflict and I understand his point, but need something more convincing.”

But despite their professional differences, both the director and producer claim to be comfortable with each other.

Madhu adds, “Abbas and I are very close friends and feel passionately about the film. We make it a point to show off our aggression. I am sure we’ll settle with a final title soon. And yes, on the other hand, John likes another title.”

Nana Patekar is launching his son, Malhar as an actor, with his second directorial venture which will be based on autism. Prahaar (1991) was Nana’s directorial debut.

Prakash Jha will be producing the film, despite claims that he had broken off all ties with Nana. The presenter of the film will be Reliance Big Pictures. The film will be a story about a father and his autistic so and stars Nana, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni. The female lead of the film is yet to be chosen.

Prakash Jha confirmed that he will be producing the film but Reliance Big Pictures has rubbished the rumours about them presenting it, claiming it is all speculation.

Is Vivek Oberoi getting a raw deal? The Kurbaan promos feature Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor all the way. Vivek Oberoi who plays the third main protagonist is hardly glimpsed in the entire promotional campaign, triggering off a widespread feeling that things are not so right between Vivek and the Kurbaan team.

However, the explanation for Vivek’s absence is far more bizarre than the normal raw-deal rona-dona.

Apparently, his role is so deeply affiliated to the plot’s suspense that every moment shown in the promos featuring Oberoi would have the tendency to give away the story.

Laughs director Rensil D’Silva, “It’s a very strange situation. Vivek is one of the central characters. But almost every scene of his is a dead giveway of the suspense. What do we do?”

Rensil has discussed the problem with Vivek. “And he is absolutely cool with being the band mutthi of the film. I’ve spoken to Vivek and explained the dilemma. He was cool with not being featured in the promos that much. He said to do whatever is right for the film because when the film opens the truth about the extent of his role would be out. Vivek has worked very hard in the film. He had to acquire a true New Yorker’s accent and not the kind Indians get at the John F Kennedy airport.”

Vivek worked really hard on the accent. “We had a couple of New Yorkers on the sets to coach him. He’s got the NY accent bang-on. It’s not a borough-specific accent (NY has 5 boroughs each with its own speaking pattern). It’s a general New York twang. And Vivek is superb with it.”

Rensil cuts down the belief that Vivek has a cameo in Kurbaan? “Not true at all. Vivek is in 80 percent of the film. He’s central to the drama. Vivek worked very hard on the role. He was in my room in Philadelphia every night to discuss his diction, dialogues and looks. I seem his career at the cusp of something really exciting.”

Celina Jaitley is one lady who dons a lot of hats! The Ex-Miss Universe runner up has not only carved a name for herself in the film industry but has always been known for the various causes she espouses, be it PETA, brand ambassador for Egypt tourism or as a gay rights activist.

Hearing Celina articulate presentations on various channels, a lot of top corporate houses had approached Celina to give a talk on the acceptance of minorities. But various film commitments took up Celina’s priority which made it difficult for her to take up their offer.

But after a long schedule of shooting abroad she has gotten down to her road trip and has accepted the invitation to speak to the employees of Goldman Sachs, a renowned international investment bank.

She held a special seminar attended by over 1000 members on acceptance of minorities (religious as well as sexual) in corporate environments.

Greeted with massive ovations she felt very privileged and said “I am so happy corporate are taking this initiation. It’s a big cultural revolution and at least people are making an effort towards peace and acceptance. As for me, it’s amusing and exhilarating to sometimes motivate people twice my age and much highly educated then me.”

Very happy about the phenomenal response, she says, “I am happy to be a part of a peace and acceptance process that will change the world, hopefully for the better…”

Saif’s health has been giving him a lot of trouble in the past few years. First he had severe chest pain due to which he was hospitalized and then an acidity attack sent him back to the hospital bed. Now, he has food poisoning.

Saif’s schedule is very hectic these days. Last week, he and Bebo shot for a Kurbaan special, then they flew to London, followed by Dubai, and they have to go to New York later this week to promote the film. Due to Saif’s illness, all promotional activities will have to be cancelled. A source tells us, ‘Saif has been eating out and getting very little rest. He doesn’t know what exactly caused the acute food poisoning. His stomach has become sensitive now, and he has been advised against having oily and spicy food. He has been asked to resort to complete bed rest for the next four or five days and live on soups, hot water and salads. His doctor is at Lilavati Hospital.’

‘Once Saif recovers, he will resume promoting Kurbaan with renewed vigour. He has faith in the film and is glad that the promos are doing well. Even his Kurbaan Hua video, which has a Gothic look, is on its way to becoming a rage. Meanwhile, Kareena is worried about his health and spends as much with him as possible. She is also stressed out because she has to promote Kurbaan and 3 Idiots simultaneously along with shooting for the Stepmon remake.’

Karan Johar confirmed the news of Saif’s illness and said that promotions for Kurbaan would resume in a few days. Till then, director Rensil D’silva, Kareena Kapoor and he will promote the film in whichever way possible.

Amitabh Bachchan is an incredible actor. His body of work proves it. The actor continues to surprise you to this date. Yes, we’re talking about his new film PAA. It wouldn’t be erroneous to state that PAA is the first film, after GHAJINI, which has aroused such reactions from all quarters – the industrywalas as well as the paying public. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who caught up with actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif on the sets of reality show “Bigg Boss 3″ recently, is all praises for the latter and says she is a “modern day marvel”.

“Katrina is a modern day marvel. From a non-Hindi speaking young shy and uncertain lady of ‘Boom’, she has grown and grown to become one of the most desired actresses in our fraternity, ” Amitabh posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

While Amitabh hosts the reality show, Ranbir and Katrina had appeared to promote their film “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, which released Friday.

“They (Ranbir and Katrina) were charming and involved and sweet. Ranbir as you all know is related to me. His cousin – Rishi Kapoor’s elder sister’s son is married to Shweta, my daughter.

“I wished them happiness and success, ” he said.

In the meanwhile, Amitabh is himself busy charting the marketing plans of his forthcoming movie “Paa”, being touted as his best work so far. He plays a 13-year-old suffering from progeria, a rare disease which causes premature ageing.

While Aamir is shown operating the puppet, in actuality it is legendary ventriloquist Ramdas Pathaye who is pulling the strings behind the scene.

Aamir and Ramdas Pathaye had met earlier when Aamir was a young boy and a fan of Doordarshan’s show Meri Bhi Suno on which Ramdas operated puppets. As a young boy, Aamir was fascinated and used to take notes from the show. He was delighted when he met the ventriloquist in person many years ago.

When Khan met Pathaye, he told he was delighted to meet him again. Pathaye was surprised and then Aamir recalled the episode when he had met him as a child. Pathaye was amazed at his fantastic memory. For the ad, Pathaye told Aamir to observe him operating puppets and pick up his body language to create a bond between the puppet and him.

The ad will be aired in a few weeks. In the recent past, Aamir has played a biker in a video game who transforms into a real person in the Coca Cola ad, he has played a TV-obsessed husband whose life has been simplified by Tata Sky, dressed up as a woman for another Tata Sky ad and played a Sardar in an ad for Coca Cola. It is believed that Aamir is deeply involved in the making of his ads which is why his commercials have proper dialogues. Aamir will be sporting a ‘70s look replete with a long-haired wig in the new commercial.
